Lessette Kornegay, MLK Program Musical Performer
New recording artist from Kinston, North Carolina Evangelist
Lessette Kornegay, singer and songwriter has given a new sound
to contemporary Gospel Music. It's very rare that an artist sings
lead and all background vocals on their CD. Yet, it reveals the
depths of her rare musical talent.She was mentored by her father
John F. Cox. He was a recording artist, singer, musician and song-
writer. Her songs tell about her painful life experiences and how
she over came them. Lessette's music soothes the the listening
ear as God's anointing injects healing to the wounded heart. Her
music is surprisingly refreshing and transcends all cultures and
age groups.
Lessette's debut CD "AFTER THE STORM " was released
March, 2012. Digital downloads of her CD are available on major
Internet sites and her CD is available in some stores. Her fans re-
ports in tears how her songs touch them. The excitement is high.
She starred in her first video "AFTER THE STORM " released July,
2012 on Youtube. Lessette's video came in second place in the
MARC GORDON VIDEO CONTEST in the RnB category Septem-
ber 2012. Her story, " Don't Run From Your Gift " is in the October
2012 issue of FINE SUCCESS MAGAZINE. She was recently inter-
viewed on The Ion TV Network and The Reece Gardner TV Show.
Lessette is a seasoned singer that has opened for Grammy Award
winner Dr. Dorinda Clark Cole, Vickie Winans, and Twinkie Clark.
In May 2012 she opened for international speaker Iona Locke in
New Jersey at a Pastor Wheats Conference. Lessette was nomi-
nated Best Female Vocalist in Eastern North Carolina at The
Dawson Award Show hosted by television Icon Dr. Bobby Jones
April, 1994. She sang at the world famous Apollo Theater and be-
fore 10,000 proud troops aboard The U.S. Theodore Roosevelt. She
has been a choir director at her local church and sang at countless
community functions.
Lessette says, " My Logo is a dead rose, because it's life was
given for my happiness. Just as the rose, God has gifted me to
share his love thru my songs, to bring joy and encouragment to a
